PAKEX – Frequently Asked Questions
How much is PakEX?
PakEX is completely free of charge!
This said, we are happy to accept a gold coin donation towards next years event to help cover venue hire, insurance, advertising, and other costs for the event .
Are there age restrictions?
PakEX is suitable for the whole family. We may have some games with a minimum age rating, and if so these ratings will be respected.
We do ask that if you have children in the venue that you do not leave them unattended, and recommend you exercise parental discretion when deciding if something is appropriate for your child.
We also recommend you read our unaccompanied minors policy below.
Do you allow unaccompanied minors?
PakEX is an event suitable for all ages.
All minors under the age of 15 are required to be accompanied by an adult at all times.
All minors 15 years of age are welcomed unaccompanied, however we do ask that they:
· Have the ability to get to and from the venue unassisted.
· Have the ability to contact their parents at any time if required.
· Are fully aware of who they can contact in case of emergency
Please consider that this is a community event being run by volunteers demonstrating games, not a babysitting service. It is not appropriate to leave minors at the venue all day with no capacity for them to leave if they wish to do so.
Will there be any food or drink?
Absolutely. A coffee cart and a couple of food vans will be on site at PakEX during the day.
We will also be selling packaged chips, chocolates and drinks in the venue.
If you have food or drink, respect the games – please keep these away from the tables and wash your hands thoroughly before touching any gaming equipment
Is the venue accessible to wheel chairs?
The Community Centre was purpose built to be fully accessible for all members of the community. There are no stairs, door widths are designed for wheel chair access with many automatic opening. The toilets are fully accessible with hoisting facilities.
Is there car parking at the venue?
There is a limited number of car spaces at the Outlook Centre. We are aware of another hall at the Outlook Centre being used during the day so we cannot guarantee parking availability. There is free off-street parking nearby, please respect local residents needs and parking rules if you are parking in the area.
Can I come dressed as 'x' for the Cosplay?
We don’t want to be Judgey McJudgeface’s, but we do ask that you think carefully about your outfit. PakEX has an objective of bringing more people into tabletop gaming, this means there will be young kids. As a general rule, if you think something is a bit too risqué, it probably is.
Is there public transport access?
Metro trains and V/Line trains both operate at Pakenham Station. The 925/926 bus route stops on the Princes Hwy, only a few hundred meters from the Outlook Community Centre.
We recommend you plan your trip using the PTV Journey Planner
Can I drink at the event?
PakEX is an family friendly event, as such it is drug and alcohol free.
